Therapy

Law Enforcement & First Responders
Independent from your department or agency. I do not report your participation in therapy to your employer.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, stress, trauma, major life changes, and the challenges that can come with demanding careers. I have a particular interest in working with law enforcement, first responders, other high-stress professionals, and the family members who support them.

My background includes graduate training in forensic and police psychology as well as nearly three years of volunteer experience in a law-enforcement environment. Spending time in that environment has given me an understanding of the profession that academic training alone could not provide, including its culture, demands, humor, frustrations, and the reality of managing an ordinary human life alongside an unusual job.

My approach to therapy is practical, collaborative, and individualized. I don't assume that I know what will work for someone simply because I've studied a particular problem or population. I bring psychological knowledge and clinical perspective to the conversation, while you bring expertise in your own life. We figure out together what is useful, realistic, and sustainable for you.

This can be particularly important for people who are accustomed to solving problems, functioning under pressure, or being the person others rely on. Therapy doesn't require giving up that independence. Sometimes it simply provides a place to look at what's happening from another angle, understand patterns that aren't working anymore, and develop better ways of handling what comes next.

You also don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want from therapy. If you're looking for someone who will approach you with curiosity, respect, honesty, and humor when appropriate, I'd be glad to meet you and see whether we're a good fit.
